Opportunity to join a Tier 1 Investment Bank as a Mainframe Systems Manager, to join its Client Reference Data/Delivery Instructions group, to manage a programme of work, and in doping so will manage a team of 7/8 developers. The Delivery Instructions team develops and supports the core Firmwide sources of Delivery Instruction data for all institutional business units. Several sources of data currently exist, one being the renovated strategic repository for holding security and cash settlement instructions and others being the legacy repositories. One of the goals of the group is to migrate all data maintenance away from the legacy systems in order to adopt one single source of settlement instruction data for the Firm. As the DB2 developer, you will join the team to contribute to the ongoing development of the database tier which is on a DB2/OS390 platform. The role will provide exposure to all stages of the systems development life cycle; the successful candidate will participate in analysis and design sessions, perform data modeling and relational database design, work with the rest of the team to complete development, manage the changes through integration and user testing and deliver them into production. Essential requirements include strong background in relational database development, with DB2 the preference, and a strong understanding of database modeling concepts. Knowledge of database optimization and performance tuning is also required, as is knowledge of database development tools such as Development Centre, RDC, RapidSQL and DBArtisan. Finally, you will be familiar with structured design and have strong communication and problem-solving skills. |
